Elk Valley Branch Library
Visitors are welcome at the new Elk Valley Branch Library, which opened on August 9, 2011. It is located at 313 The Crossings mall in Elkview and is the first project to be completed in Kanawha County Public Library’s Open a Modern Classic campaign to build a new Main Library and make branch improvements.
The new building allows more programs for people of all ages as well as a larger collection of books, audiovisual items and magazines. There are three study rooms and one large community meeting room that can be divided into two smaller rooms. The new library also has 16 public computers, wireless internet service, ample parking and a drive-up book drop
The Crossings mall is located off of Exit 9 on I-79 North. The library is located behind and to the left of Kmart. The branch is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Other businesses in The Crossings are Kmart, Kroger, Hallmark and Dollar Tree. Restaurants include La Caretta, China Super Buffet, Subway, Pizza Hut, McDonalds and Bob Evans.

You are invited to visit and tour the Main Library of the Kanawha County Public Library system on Wednesday, October 5th from 6:30-8pm.
This is a private reception for WVLA members and their guests.
- The Mobile Library will be on site for viewing.
- In our Tech Center, there will be an e-reader petting zoo and highlights of a few of the special services KCPL offers through our website.
- Musical duo Ryan Kennedy and Jim Lange will be performing.
- Light refreshments will be served.
Please enter on the Summers Street entrance. For “mapping” purposes use 123 Summers Street.
From the Marriot: Walk east on Lee Street (3 blocks). Turn right onto Summer Street (1 ½ blocks)
The library will be providing a shuttle van to and from the Marriot. The first pick up will be at the Marriot at 6:15. Shuttles should run approximately every 20 minutes.

Call for Proposals Closed
The Call for Proposals was closed Friday, July 15, 2011. The Conference Committee thanks everyone who submitted their ideas. Presenters will be notified by August 1, 2011. It is going to be a great conference at a nice location and we look forward to seeing everyone there!
